With the circulation of untrustworthy communications online about fuel shortages, Carol Ofori decided to speak to Layton Beard from the Automobile Association (AA) to clear up the confusion.
We have all been feeling anxious and stressed when it comes to food shortages, fuel shortages, and price increases in everything. So when it comes to acting out of fear, we can all be guilty of that.
Carol Ofori chatted to Layton Beard, the spokesperson of the Automobile Association (AA). When it comes to the rumours that are circulating on social media, there is talk of possible fuel shortages. Beard shared the reality of the situation, saying that the riots have caused the rand weakening considerably in the past few days. He proposed that the petrol price could increase considerably due to the weakening of the rand, and he said it could even go up by 80c a litre.
He also advised that South Africans not leave their homes if they don't need to, conserve as much as you can, and stay safe.
