We were truly ecstatic when we heard that our daytime diva would be featured in an African-inspired animated series on Disney+, and now we are beaming with pride as another one hits our screens.

Screentime for our kids is becoming more and more inclusive in representing the South African culture. Creating a world where superheroes exist is just another way of giving our kids (and us, let's be honest) hope.

The new animated series that aired on Disney Junior (Channel 309 on DSTV) ‘Kiya & the Kimoja Heroes’ is not only locally relevant but Introduces Three New Superheroes, hailing from Kimoja, a fictitious Southern African city.

Carol Ofori chatted with the very talented Bonko Khoza about his role in the series.

We know Bonko very well after his breathtaking, SAFTA-winning performance as Mqhele Zulu in the first season of 'The Wife' on Showmax.

In this new series, Khoza plays Kiya's dad, Daddy Jo and is a food truck owner. The man with the authoritative, yet safe nesting voice shared how he surprises himself with his adaptability.

We are excited to see him take on this new path in his career and look forward to watching the series with our kids.
