East Coast Radio bags 15 Radio Awards Nominations

East Coast Radio is elated this morning after the news that KZN’s No.1 Hit Music Station received 15 nominations in various categories.

The Radio Awards promotes and recognises excellence in the radio landscape of South Africa and recognises the best in the industry, setting a benchmark for all radio stations and professionals to strive toward.   

The station upped nominations from 13 in 2019 to 15 this year which also includes East Coast Radio being nominated for Station of the Year.

Winners will be announced online, as the awards ceremony has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Congratulations to the nominees in the following categories:

East Coast Breakfast for achieving three nominations:

  • Breakfast Show in SA – East Coast Breakfast
  • Best Sports Presenter – Sky Tshabalala
  • Best Traffic Presenter in SA – Jayshree Parasuramen 

East Coast Drive for achieving four nominations:

  • Best Afternoon Drive Presenter in SA – Bongani Mtolo
  • Best Multi-Channel Promotion - #EastCoastDriveAround 
  • Best Sports Show - #GDogInJapan 
  • Best Community Project – #MagsPinkDrive 

Congratulations to the following ECR presenters:

  • Best Daytime Show in SA – Stacey Norman 
  • Best Night time Show in SA – Neil Green
  • Best Night time Show in SA – Mike V 
  • Best Night time Show in SA – Damon Beard 
  • Best Music Show in SA - ECR Top 40 with Danny & Tee 
  • Best Weekend Show in SA – ECR Top 40 with Danny & Tee 
  • Best Internet Show in SA – Gordan Graham’s More Music Breakfast Show on digital station, East Coast Gold                                

East Coast Radio’s Managing Director, Boni Mchunu said that she is extremely proud of Team ECR.


“I’m very proud of my team. They work extremely hard to provide an excellent listening experience and that shows in the number of nominations this year. I am glad to see an increase in nominations which means that the on-air product keeps improving as we pride ourselves in delivering only the best for KZN,” said Mchunu.
