VIDEO: Brave hikers stand up to elephant charge
Updated | By Rory Petzer
This nail-biting footage shows the moment a bull elephant in the Kruger National Park decides he has had enough of his audience in the bush.
If Bakkies Botha had to charge at you, it would be terrifying enough, but when an angry bull elephant charges forwards and blows its trunk, you might just need a change of underwear.
It would be perfectly normal to turn around and leg it!
But these hikers at Kruger National Park fortunately knew better and calmly stood their ground.
The group's walking safari guide, Cornel Rademeyer, said if the hikers had turned around and run, the elephant would have most likely followed through on his charge.
The Drive Team is concerned about the fact that the man in front immediately lifted his firearm and was ready to shoot.
Have you ever had a similar experience? Do you think it is fair that the elephant is in danger of being shot dead by what are essentially intruders in its habitat?
We'd love to hear your thoughts on this. Leave them right here or on our Facebook page.
