Before your big marriage proposal, you're sure to be nervous, and wonder if you're doing it in the right way.

Natarah Nadesan says she will never forget January 2011, when her husband proposed to her at the Oyster Box Hotel in Umhlanga.

She’d left work at around 7pm. She'd had a long day at the office and all she wanted was a relaxed evening with her then boyfriend.

He told her he was taking her to a fancy restaurant, and even took a smart dress to the office that evening for her to change into.

They had a delicious dinner, took some photos and then when it was time to go, he took her upstairs to the library room.

Natarah thought they were going to take some pics in there as they were escorted inside by two staff members.

After a few minutes, hubby went down on one knee and popped the question offering his lady love a white gold ring.

After she said yes, the couple’s family emerged from the balcony, camera in hand, shouting, “Surprise!”

There was laughter and jokes and lots of sweet treats. It definitely was a night to celebrate with the ones they love.

Take a look at some of Natarah's engagement pictures she wanted to share with you.
We were intrigued with Gabriel's proposal - but more like the location of it.

Gabriel was very pleased with his girlfriend of three years.

Without any consultation with friends or family, he figured it was a great time to propose to her.

Not being too obvious with a fancy dinner or a trip to Paris, he kept things simple; perhaps a little too simple.

Since they spoke a lot about building a home and a future for themselves, he figured why not propose to her at home?

A few days after this spark of brilliance, he waited for the perfect moment in the kitchen - while she was preparing dinner.

This would take her by complete surprise, because no one thinks of marriage in between chopping onions and seasoning a chicken.

With a ring in his pocket, he waited for the perfect moment. He took her hand, went down on one knee - ventured into the unknown and proposed to her.

The answer was a teary YES!

All was well until three years later, where they unfortunately ended up going their separate ways.

However, now that Gabriel is older, and hopefully wiser, he thinks he could have at least taken her outside to the garden and proposed to her there.

We would have to disagree. The team thinks Gabriel's kitchen proposal was unique and very romantic.
