Three things Makhosi can't live without
Updated | By Staff Writer
Here are three things I can't live without today that I could live without 20 years ago.
As we celebrate 20 years of freedom and democracy in our beloved country, we take a look back at the past two decades.
This got me thinking about how life has changed over the last 20 years and some of the items I can't live without today that I could live without pre-1994.
1. Car
I can’t forget my first car. It was a cream/mustard Toyota Conquest.
I only got the car in 1995/6 so 20 years ago I was car-less and very much a commuter.
The most frustrating was boarding taxis to Swaziland during varsity breaks.
You waited up to four hours for the kombi to fill up and then another seven-hour trek back home
2. Cellphone
I didn’t have a cellphone back then.
It still boggles the mind how I survived without it.
I lived the public telephone life "progressing" from coins to phoning by cards - that was a giant leap back then...and I had a pager at some point as well*hides in sheer embarrassment*.
3. Social networks
I can't live without Facebook and Twitter.
Where do I start?
It's a great outlet for "brainfarts" and to see what’s happening in the world as well.
Those are my three things I can't live without today that I could live without 20 years ago.
What are yours?
Please list them below.
