The Ladykillers - What a show!
Updated | By Jason
Last night, I went along to THE LADYKILLERS – the West End and Broadway smash comedy hit that’s on at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre.
The story in a nutshell is about a little old lady (Mrs Wilberforce) who lives alone with her parot in a somewhat lopsided house built over the entrance to Kings Cross Railway Station.
With nothing to really occupy her time and an over active imagination, she’s a frequent visitor to the local police station, where she reports suspicions regarding neighbourhood activities. – so with a bit of a track record of almost wasting the police’s time, the officers humour her, but give her reports no credence whatever.
She takes on a gang of criminal misfits posing as amateur musicians who rent rooms in her house and then carry out a sophisticated security van robbery at King's Cross Station.
What transpires is a rollercoaster ride of twists and turns and some really funny dialogue – and with their options running out, the criminals decide they must kill Mrs Wilberforce. No one wants to do it, though so they draw straws
Aboslutely brilliant cast - Charon William-Ros plays the part of Mrs Wilberforce and then she’s backed up by the best in the business. Tim Wells, Peter Court, Cobus van Heerden, Ian Robinson and Lyle Buxton.
Steven Stead does an incredible job of direction and with set design by Greg King – this show is a winner!
When you see the set – you’ll understand why Greg has won the Durban Mercury Theatre Award for best set design every year since 1999.
Shows are Tuesday and Friday at 7:30pm, Sat at 2:30pm and 7:30pm and Sun at 6pm
Cost: R150 per person and bookings are with Computicket.
