Sorry Officer, can i have my parking back?
Updated | By Msizi James

It seems like my Facebook feed is a buzz with People complaining about Police, parking where they want from handicap ONLY parking spaces to tow away zones.
The issue that most of us have is the lack of accountability for this issue and how our law enforcement believe they are above the law itself. In fact I witnessed this first hand. I was blown away by the turn of events.
Recently I went to Gateway for lunch and for the first time ever I had no trouble finding a parking space. As I walked into the mall I saw a big Metro Police mini van Parked on the side walk. I didn't really think anything of it, for all I knew there was some sort of emergency they were taking care of. But turns out that wasn't the case. Skip forward an hour and I’m walking out of the mall, when I see five female cops in full uniform wielding shopping bags from shops like Zara and others. I put two and two together and walked behind them for a bit while they were eating fast food on their way to the illegally parked vehicle.
I decided to take a picture of this all, mostly because I couldn't actually believe it was happening. One of the cops saw me taking pictures of their van and called me over to her. She questioned why I was doing so. So I questioned their illegal parking and the fact that they went shopping during work hours. She then verbally attacked me and asked me who I was to even question her/them. I took that as my queue to leave. I know how arguing with cops these days will turns out.
My point is this. Let’s practice what we preach. How can Metro Cops be the first to give you fines or get you towed away for illegally parking, yet they sometimes are the ones breaking the laws that they have been appointed to uphold.
