Small business ministry to create jobs
Updated | By Portia Cele
Captains of industry have welcomed the creation of a Ministry dedicated to small businesses in South Africa.
President Jacob Zuma appointed his former international advisor Lindiwe Zulu, as the country's first Minister of Small Business Development yesterday.
The Durban Chamber of Commerce says it hopes Zulu is able to tackle the challenges that entrepreneurs face.
Meanwhile, political analyst, Sethulego Matebesi says the new ministry is likely an attempt by government to boost its key priority- job creation.
"There's a huge pressure on the presidency to try and drive the economy towards a situation where people can find jobs and if you're going to focus on your small and medium enterprises, then already you have won the war against unemployment," he said.
