Should corporal punishment be reintroduced?
Updated | By Staff Writer
The discipline situation at schools seems to be in a very dark and scary place.
Granted not in every school, but the stories that are surfacing are shocking - and these are only the ones that get spoken about.
I truly believe children are an extension of their home and family life, and it is the role of the parent to teach and guide their kids through what is right and wrong.
In hearing about those kids attacking teachers I said boldly on air that I think corporal punishment would be a good thing to reintroduce, but I realise that statement comes from a childhood of a very loving nature - although at times when necessary I was given a good crack on the bum.
Take a listen to what a Durban teacher had to say on the matter:
I would hope if corporal punishment was to be reintroduced that teachers and school authorities would not abuse this.
I spoke to Henry (take a listen below) and after our chat suddenly had the fear of an out-of-control teacher taking discipline issues into his own hands.
We asked for your take on the issue on our Facebook page. Here's what some of you had to say.
