PHOTOS: Abi adopts a dog
This week I adopted my first dog from a shelter. He was handed in on 5 July and when I saw the photo of him on Facebook I just knew he needed to be part of our family.
This week I adopted my first dog from a shelter. He was handed in on 5 July and when I saw the photo of him on Facebook I just knew he needed to be part of our family.
It broke my heart that he had spent six weeks living in a cold concrete cage.
I absolutely adore all dogs, but I have special place in my heart for sausage dogs, and now I have three!
We are unsure of his age due to the fact that he was handed in as a stray; nor did we know his name. So we're calling him BONZO. Hopefully he'll learn it soon!
There are many animals in various shelters just waiting to be loved.
I urge people to adopt rather than shop...too many of these animals are put down before they can find a home.
And don't get a dog if you don't plan on making it part of your family and keeping it forever - no matter what!
