Oscar Trial: what you missed on TV

Oscar Trial: what you missed on TV

We recap five things that you might have missed during the live broadcast of the Oscar Pistorius trial on Thursday.

1. Graphic photos of Reeva's body were unintentionally flashed on screens in the court. The images, which showed the wounds she suffered, were part of a batch of photos that state prosecutor Gerrie Nel was preparing to show to Colonel Schoombie Van Rensburg on the stand. Pistorius could be heard retching in the dock once more at the upsetting images. Even though the photos were never officially shown, very clear thumbnails could be seen on the big colour monitors that have been set up in the courtroom.

2. The mother of the Reeva Steenkamp's best friend shifted her gaze to the floor, and eventually became so uncomfortable that she left.

3. Collections of expensive watches and sunglasses were photographed in Pistorius's bedroom as part of evidence. Barry Roux has suggested the watches were taken from the scene.

4. The court recorder suffered another glitch, though fortunately it was picked up during lunch and didn't cause a serious delay.

5. The puzzling black plastic bags that were on scene with Reeva's body. In court, Van Rensburg recalls thinking they were strange. He says he was told the plastic was being used to stop the bleeding.
