OLD MUTUAL is growing the WORLD’S BIGGEST MO!

OLD MUTUAL is growing the WORLD’S BIGGEST MO!

During November each year, also known as the month of Movember, thousands of men grow moustaches to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.

Old Mutual is raising awareness in a big way, by attempting to grow the World’s Biggest Moustache Garden that will hopefully land in the Guinness Book of World Records.
“Old Mutual is creating a tomato garden in the shape of a moustache to grow awareness for prostate and testicular cancer, as well as for other severe illnesses. The aim is to highlight the importance of eating correctly, living well, going for regular medical check-ups and ensuring that you have the appropriate severe illness cover in place.” says David O’Brien, General Manager  of Customer Engagment at Old Mutual.

Why tomato plants?

Tomatoes are believed to significantly minimise the chance of men developing prostate cancer, if they are eaten as part of a healthy diet.
The 8m x 20m tomato moustache will be filmed as it grows, and the harvest will be donated to  Food Bank SA, where it will be used to try eliminate hunger and create jobs.
This is how you can get involved:
•    You can make a donation in four easy steps by going to the Old Mutual Team Mo space.  http://za.movember.com/donate.  Old Mutual has committed to match any donations raised by the OMMO team.
•    Like the Old Mutual Facebook page and follow them on Twitter to support this awesome project. They will be sharing health tips, grooming tips, financial tips and video footage of the Mo Garden progress.
•    Be part of this worthy and exciting cause by sharing a picture of you wearing your moustache on Facebook or Twitter, and by keeping it as your profile picture for the rest of the month to keep the awareness going. Remember to tag Old Mutual on your Mo photos.
•    Ladies can also take part by getting their Green Mo’s at the Prime Circle concert in Kirstenbosch or at the House & Leisure Night market happening in Cape Town.
You don’t want to miss out on being a part of a potential World Record for the biggest Mo Garden grown. But most importantly, you don’t want to say you didn’t take part in raising awareness of the impact of severe illnesses.

“It is important to raise awareness about the health risks affecting men and to raise much needed funds. But it is equally important to consider the illness’s financial implications and to protect yourself  financially against them by speaking to your financial adviser today.” concludes O’Brien.
