Natarah speaks about her haunted fridge

If you’re wondering why Darren was giving Natarah issues about the bags under her eyes, nope, it’s not the plethora of anti-slipper comments on Facebook. It’s far worse.

If you’re wondering why Darren was giving me issues about the bags under my eyes this morning, nope, it’s not the plethora of anti-slipper comments on Facebook.  It’s far worse.  I believe my fridge, my double-door, mega cooling machine – is haunted. If you don’t believe me, read on.

We’ve heard freaky sounds coming from inside the fridge for months now. However, they’ve got louder this week and are more noticeable at night, when everything’s quiet and dark.  A little too convenient, hey?

The cycle of disturbing noises begins with the sound of what I’d like to describe as a rat sprinting across the glass shelves. It then sounds like the fridge gets annoyed by this and proceeds to ingest the intruder.  The churning of digestive juices, is what I hear next, followed by a slow tap on the door, which eerily sounds like the poor rat’s trying to escape.   I’ll be going home today to check whether Louw du Toit’s suggestion that I have an ice-maker is true.   Otherwise, it’s good to know that I’m not the only East Coaster who’s haunted by her fridge’s freaky noises.   Beverly Ann Usswald wrote on the Breakfast Stack Facebook page that:

"my son bought a new fridge last year and it makes funny noises ending with a clunk. I have also recently bought a new fridge and it makes a shuffling sound, like someone walking through my home, quite scary at night."

Now do you believe me?
