Municipal lifeguard tried drowning dogs
Updated | By tanstan fourie
Wednesday morning on Durban Battery Beach two dogs tied to a swimming post got dragged into the ocean by a municipal life guard. We chatted to an eye witness this morning, take a listen.

An owner tied its two Jack Russell's to a no swimming sign on Battery Beach and was dragged into the ocean by a lifeguard on Wednesday morning 6am.
One of the dogs managed to get loose, but the other dog was gasping for air as the water covered its body.
An eyewitness ran to rescue the dog and confronted the lifeguard. The dogs survived and left with their owner shortly after the incident.
The issue has been taken up by eThekwini Municipality parks and recreation head.
Eyewitness Teressa Lugg, who was training on the beach that morning chatted to us this morning, take a listen:

What do you think the lifeguard's reasoning was for wanting to drown the dogs? We want to know what you think.
