Moment of Madness hits the skies

Zaba and Jason went skydiving over the weekend. See the video evidence of Jason (who can't get out of bed without getting vertigo) getting tossed out of a plane.

Damon, as usual was up to nonsense on the Drive show last week..

He called the bluff of Zaba and myself when it cames to heights with, err serious repercussions... As in getting tossed out of a moving plane. At 8000 feet repercussions.

Last week Damon asked us if we were scared of heights. I lied and said of course not. Truth be told I can't get out of bed without getting a slight bit of vertigo...Zaba acted all calm and cool but I could see that this was an uncomfortable situation for her too..

You know those dreams you have when you face your fear and somehow conquer it? Well I wake up crying, usually hugging my teddy bear covered pillow while screaming for help. Wait, what - ok nevermind. I was just kidding. Err, I would never do that.

So Saturday rocked up and we arrived at Durban Skydive Centre  in Cato Ridge (in the Tala Valley area) to meet Vernon and the crew who would be strapping our shivering and shaking bodies to their torsos and leaping out a perfectly good aircraft. For the purpose of excitement.

I have to admit - the guys at Durban Skydive Centre are pretty awesome leading up to the jump. Except for the occasional joke around broken harnesses and faulty parachutes - they are quite the fun bunch... But seriously - they knew I was scared and they managed to move my emotional state from fear to excitement - not the easiest thing to do...

After a briefing and quick trip to the end of the runway - we were jammed into our craft and off we went - climbing higher and higher. And higher................and higher.

You know what the definition of height in KZN is? When you can say "Hey I can see my house from here. And Moses Mabhida Stadium. And the berg. And the ocean. And"...well you catch my drift.

I was stoked that I got to jump with Vernon, probably the most calm guy there- maybe it's because he is also one of the most passionate about his job kinda guys that I have ever met.

The jump itself out the craft was the scariest part. Aftr that  - it was incredible. So if you can just deal with that first push out - then the rest they say is history. Fun, 280 km/h -make-your-face-distort kind of fun. if you watch the footage you will see that my face ends up looking like a Shar-Pei dogs for a good few seconds.

All I can really say is that this is an unmissable and incredible experience that I RECOMMEND for everyone!
