Mom saves son before being killed by escalator

This footage is nothing short of terryfying. 

Captured on a security camera is a mother's final moments and her ability to save the life of her young son. 

Xiang Liujuan, 30, was holding her son in front of her as they went up the stairway on Saturday, the Wuhan Evening News says. 

Security camera footage of the incident posted online shows a panel in the floor giving way as Xiang stepped off the escalator.

As she fell half-way through she pushed her son forward, and a nearby shop assistant dragged him to safety.

According to Buzzfeed the woman's family hopes the story will spread awareness.

"Facing the disappearance of a lively human being, our whole family is shocked and unable to react," the woman's sister-in-law shared in a blog post.

"We don't know how to save all the proof about my brother's wife's suffering, so what we can do is to count on the media to record what happened."
