Message in a bottle: What would yours say?
Updated | By Rory Petzer
13-year-old Angela Harris left a message in a bottle way back in 2001. It was found by a beachcomber 14 years later.
On New Year's Day in 2001, then 13-year-old Angela Harris had an argument with her boyfriend, and decided to write a desperate plea for companionship.
Angela then put the message in a bottle and buried it on Dana Beach just outside Mossel Bay.
She also put a few personal items in the bottle along with the letter.
14 years later, treasure hunter Michael de Nobrega found the bottle using his metal detector.
Angela, now a single mom, said she was surprised when contacted about the discovery of the letter.
The letter, which dates 1 Jan 2001, says, "I want you to look after these things for me and please write to me... I
would love to have another friend in my life!"
If The Drive Team were each to write a message in a bottle, it would say the following:
Damon: If you find Mfundo, please contact me ASAP.
Rory: What the hell is going on?
Mfundo: Download my latest track right here.
Andre: Looking for mackerel. Please contact me ASAP.
Dineo: Why am I stuck in this bottle? I have a deadline!
JVB: Traffic bottle-necking at spaghetti junction. Use alternative route.
If you were to write a message in a bottle, and you knew it would be found in 2030, what would the message say?
