Man finds mouse in coffee!

Shockingly true?! A Canadian man finds a mouse at the bottom of a coffee cup from McDonald's. Check out the picture here.

In case you missed it, McDonalds has spent a small fortune on a PR campaign to debunk the myth that their burger pattys are made from some noxious pink slime...

So when that battle is all but won and their reputation is again intact, the timing of this new revelation could not have been better/worse - depending on whether you're McDonalds or a competitor.

It's the exquisite timing that leads me to thinking that this whole episode is a case of industrial espionage.

A man finds a dead mouse in the bottom of his coffee cup after he has drunk it (which is infinitely better, I think, than finding a live mouse after having drank the whole thing) in an establishment with no vermin history and conveniently in a take away cup that is closed.

Whether it was espionage or a freak accident matters none, as after the picture of a dead mouse on the bottom of a consumed Mcdonalds cup of coffee goes viral, a vast majority of patrons will now think twice before frequenting the popular establishment.

I, for one, am not fazed. I have worked in the food and beverage industry and I can assure you that it's not the things that you can see and catch (mice, cockroaches and ants) that are the problem - it's the ones you can't see (faeces, urine and saliva) that are more troubling and prevalent and I haven't died yet.

Just to prove the point, 1st thing tomorrow, I'm going to order a drive through coffee from McDonalds on my way to work and I'm not going to look inside till I have sipped every last drop.
