Kevlar Kev lends a helping hand in CT
Updated | By tanstan fourie
The fires, which had been burning since Sunday afternoon, have destroyed thousands of hectares of vegetation and homes.
300 firefighters are working around the clock, from various places including Working on Fire, City of Cape Town and Table Mountain National Parks.
Many of us have family and friends in Cape Town but more than that, people are getting out there, they are helping each other, friends and strangers alike!
Due to the lack of man power the East Coast Breakfast team decided to send Kevlar Kev down to Cape Town to assist in any way possible and lend a helping hand.
Kevin arrived late afternoon and went straight to the Lakeside crisis center near Muizenberg to deliver food and refreshments for firefighters working around the clock.
We caught up with Kevlar Kev this morning and he had this to share:
‘After a late night helping man the main crisis center, I am back helping load up morning food packages to be sent out to the countless fire teams scattered all over the Southern Peninsula. Whilst most of the fires are out, some small outbreaks are still being monitored, and all fire fighters are still hard at work after 5 days of relentless and heroic efforts.’
