Jane's Mother's Day
Updated | By Staff Writer
From early present unwrapping to a family braai, Jane shares how her special Mother's Day unfolded.

Mike and I are so ridiculous; we should know 10 years in that bringing a gift home prematurely doesn't work as it ALWAYS ends in a early unwrapping.
This Mother's Day was no different.
A few days ago Mike excitedly announced my gift was in the house.
Twenty excited minutes later I was ripping textured paper and ribbons open to find two gorgeous bright framed sugar skull art pieces for above our bed that I have had my eye on for ages.

Three years ago when I was doing the 6-9pm show, unbeknown to me Mike had Cooper - who wasn't even a year old - made me the most magnificent Pollock-type painting for Mother's day.
The bath was covered in paint! I can only assume it was all going down.
It now proudly hangs in our entrance hall at home. What a master of present giving, what a lucky Mum indeed!
So, after some early unwrapping, this Mother's Day stared as every morning does, with three sleep-swollen faced cherubs drinking warm bottles of tea wedged between Mike and I in bed.
Later in the morning my folks arrived and we cooked up a yummy prawn and rice dish on the gas braai.
Finding small sacred moments to share one-on-one time with my kids is the biggest treat and makes my heart want to burst.
