It's their baby to sort out
Updated | By Jason
Firstly, are we the only country in the world that does this? I would think so, and it would seem as if we proud of it! The thing that bothers me the most is the percentages that are involved not because the mathematics is hard, rather because it doesn’t make sense in context. Let’s take an example from Kwa-Zulu Natal.
Car-jacking’s decreased from 9788 incidents in 2013 to 9220 in 2014! A 5.8% decrease! What does this mean in context of the ordinary South African on the street fleeing for his or her life on a daily basis?
You might say I’m blowing this crime situation out of proportion, but you won’t disagree when I say all of us need to be alert because you never know when it’s you. Back to the car-jacking scenario, a difference of 568 isn’t going to get me clapping and singing. It’s a beautiful country we live in folks. We need to protect it, because it is ours.
How?
Well, by getting the criminal element out of society. The debate goes on as to the role government should play. I ‘m of the opinion it’s their baby to sort out.
