It pays to communicate

It pays to communicate

It’s often said: "behind every successful man is a woman." These days it could be another man or better yet a woman behind a woman.

However, that’s not the crux of what I’m getting at. Relationships are special and hard to come by if you look at the ever increasing divorce rate across the world. It entails honesty, love, passion, trust and (most of us forget this one) communication. How many of us communicate to our spouse?

I don’t mean a hello or goodbye, but, deeper intrinsic conversation that can strike up a very confidential discussion. Finance is a good place to go when we talk about communication. Yes, it’s great to keep that honeymoon phase going for eternity but domestic issues always take first place when starting a new life with each other. Professionals suggest it a good idea to pool your income and plan for expenses together. I couldn’t agree more! One should also consider goals and aspirations and where you see life taking you in the not so distant future. While there are many personal goals one has, being in a relationship makes one consider the other persons needs as well. You might be surprised but, more often than not so many of our wants and desires are mutual.

I’m of the opinion working harder, spending thriftily and saving makes for a better relationship. Stay away from those unbelievable sales! Most of the items purchased at these are usually stored away and never used. Make educated consulted decisions.  Avoid the credit trap! After paying the third instalment, you tend to regret the purchase in the first place. This not only makes you wiser financially, it makes a marriage ever more so joyful
