Influencing your child's vote

Darren took his step son to register to vote this weekend and while he was there he found it difficult to not direct or sway Given’s voting decision. We wanted to know how do you NOT influence your child’s vote?
The spokesperson of the IEC, Kate Bapela said that it is estimated that on Saturday the total registration activity was about 1.2 million across the country
She said about half of the people who registered to vote on Saturday were new voters aged between 18 to 29 years
The IEC says more than 1-million people across the country registered at their nearest polling station this weekend
The team thinks that too many people vote on traditional, tribal, familial or race lines
So what we wanted to know is how do you NOT influence your child's vote?
