I met a man with an Oscar!

Darren Maule searches high and low for the man who made "SEARCHING FOR SUGAR MAN"

How does one go about impressing a man who has won an Oscar? (You know, that little Academy Award thingy)

That is exactly what I was tasked with when I met up with Academy Award winning director/producer (on his directorial debut nogal!)

Malik Bendjelloul director/producer "SEARCHING FOR SUGAR MAN"

First I asked him why he was in South Africa. He said he was searching for his next great story.

So we discussed the possible African stories that he could cover while a ray eaves dropped on us.

Then it struck me! Right here at uShaka Marine world was a legend he should interview...

It didn't take much to get Gambit to make a song and a dance, but Malik Bendjelloul was a tough nut to crack and it was going to take an exceptional story for him to want to commit to telling it.

So Gambit came and chilled next to us and literally gushed about his accomplishments...

Gambit is believed to be the largest bottle nose dolphin in any oceanarium in the world.

His average weight is around 490kg

He is 3.65m long.

He is father to 7 of the 9 dolphins born at uShaka Sea World and grandfather to 1.

He is a true ocean ambassador and has, since 1976, helped us share a message of conservation in a way no human could.

And he has remained monogamous since 1978!

Malik seemed suitably impressed, so who knows, perhaps the sequel to his Oscar winning "SEARCHING FOR SUGAR MAN" will be "FINDING GAMBIT"
