Ladies, if you're hosting family dinners or lunches over the holidays, here's a tip: choose your cutlery wisely. Psychologists in the UK have found that the art of good wining and dining is in the tools we use to eat.

If you want to impress your guests, pay special attention to the size, weight, shape and colour of your eating utensils. If yogurt is on the menu, serve it with a light, plastic spoon. Experts say this makes the dairy treat taste better. It also appears more expensive than if you had to serve it with a metal spoon.
If you're putting together a cheese platter, ask your guests to consider eating their savoury slices from a knife instead of a fork or toothpick. Those who've tried it say their food tasted deliciously saltier.
Psychologists also found that diners believed they were being served the best quality meals, when these were presented with heavy cutlery. Tinted glasses made a drink seem more refreshing. You may want to stay away from using red plates and cutlery. These have been known to ruin people's appetite.
