How do you replace The Joker?
What a daunting task!
It is one thing to bring a timeless character from the comic universe alive, it's another challenge altogether to equal or better the masterful portrayals of said villain by the likes of three time Oscar winner, Jack Nicholson and the late great Heath Ledger.
What do you do?
Well you get an actor who has proven credentials, Fight Club, Requiem for a Dream, Artifact, American Psycho and Panic Room add a dedicated cult following (30 Seconds to Mars) toss in an Oscar and a Golden Globe (Dallas Buyers Club)
... And you're half way there.
Top it off with a superb script, great direction and a half way decent cinematographer and editor and you have the next Joker.
I get a feeling his contribution in the upcoming Suicide Squad will be peripheral at best or a featured cameo at worst. Either way, I trust Jared Leto with my comic book bad guy.
