How Damon survived the earthquake

The Drive Team was in a programming meeting when it happened. The room felt like it was swaying. We had just sung 'Happy Birthday' to Abi Ray. We thought it was Mother Nature sending her wishes too.

Seconds later, East Coast Radio General Manager, Trish Taylor came into the room and told us the building was to be evacuated immediately.

Almost in unison, everyone had their smartphones out telling the world of the drama. 

You know, we work in the media: Telling the world is obviously more important than our own safety!

Most of us had never experienced a real evacuation before. We've done fire drills, yes. But this was the real thing. 

As we descended the stairs we could still feel that eery post-ten-tequila sway.

Rory (probably carelessly) first went in search of his laptop bag. While walking to the door, he casually said that he had felt the earth move before, but had never felt it move while fully clothed.

Damon (not as carelessly) moved swiftly to the exit, not bothering to gather his belongings. "I'm getting the hell out of here," is what Damon said. 

As for Mfundo, he was already outside by the time Rory and Damon got there! 

It's now confirmed that the earthquake measured 5.5 on the Richter Scale. One person has also been reported dead, after rubble fell on him in the quake's epicentre in Orkney. 

But that tragic news hasn't slowed down the barrage of funny earthquake memes and tweets.
