Getting to the root of the McDees chip

Tertiary butylhydroquinone and dimethylpolysiloxane don’t sound like ingredients you’d use to make dinner but according to one researcher, they’re in there. Well, that’s if you tuck into McDonald's fried chips.
Grant Imahara, the former host of hit US TV programme, Mythbusters has identified 14 ingredients that are used to make the potato snack. He spent time at the restaurant’s potato processing plant in Idaho to see how the chips are made from scratch.
You’ll be pleased to know that potatoes are in there, shew! In the video below, Grant takes us on a tour through the factory and explains how these fries are made.
