Farewell Sir Alex: from a Chelsea fan
Updated | By Samson

Sir Alex, a legend in the Premier league era of football in England (and possibly football in general), a list of his accolades you ask?
Well: 13 Premier League titles, 3 Scottish Premier League titles, 5 FA Cups. Four Scottish Cups, 5 League Cups, 2 Champions League wins, 2 Cup Winners' Cup trophies, 4 other continental honours, OBE. CBE. Sir.
Impressive isn’t it? Doesn’t stop me completely disliking the man and the team he’s taken to insane heights. I’ve never liked Sir Alex, his tactics (though sound and mostly near flawless), and his gum chewing habits (probably the same piece since he took up the job at Old Trafford). I’ve mostly disliked him recently because of how he makes my team (Chelsea) look a little unstable, in that he has played against over Lord knows how many Chelsea managers, 9 managers in 8 seasons to be exact.
I also disliked the fact that he got the better of my team on countless occasions, most notably that faithful night in Moscow on Wednesday the 21st of May 2008, where good old John Terry handed him what could have been Chelsea’s first Champions League trophy YES YES! I hear you; we won the Champions League anyway in 2012, but it just wasn’t as sweet, why? Because we didn’t beat the behemoth that was Sir Alex.
Damn it John, you had one job!!!!!
Are any of my abovementioned reasons for disliking Sir Alex reasonable? Absolutely not! But if you support a team other than Manchester United, you would kind of feel my pain. But my word, what a Man! I’m definitely going to miss his post-match interviews, the way he would scold referees and match officials for not wrapping the game up when he thought the game needed to be wrapped up in extra time (‘Fergie time’), the way players both past and present and even some of his colleagues referred to him as boss, and most importantly; his will to win. Sir Alex exemplified and typified what it meant to be a winner, according to people like Gary Neville, apparently after winning a trophy with Sir Alex, the celebrations were always short because he was always planning how he was going to win the next trophy. With this in mind, it’s no wonder United bagged the treble in 1999.
Former President of Zaire Mobutu Sese Seko’s name meant: ‘the all-powerful warrior who, because of his endurance and inflexible will to win, will go from conquest to conquest leaving fire in his wake’, I think it’s safe to say Alex Ferguson deserves a title like that too, to go with the countless others he amassed as coach of that red team.
God Speed Sir Alex.
