Diwali - The Festival of light

Diwali - The Festival of light

It’s here again! Diwali! While it has many names, I’m sure this is the most common name.

Essentially, Diwali is the festival of light and it celebrates good over evil, light over darkness and prosperity over malignancy.

It’s also the time of the year to reflect on the past months and to engage with friends and family who may have slipped your thoughts or even perhaps those who you don’t get along with. Ultimately it encourages people to forgive and forget past ills and to let go of grudges that have been held during the year. I think many people take loved ones for granted and may regret once it’s too late.

Now is that time to be the bigger person and so warmth and love to others. The one question that arises however is why not all year round? Why do we have to wait for a festival to remind us? It seems as if Diwali is an alarm waiting to go off for you and I to be proactive. Should it be the case? Can’t we all try and get along?

Every family has some problem or the other and we should all be there to comfort them in any way or form. What if you were in that position? Diwali is here. It reminds us that we are human too and no better than any other. It reminds us to be humble and walk in the direction of light. Let’s not forget to hold somebody’s hand while they straggling behind.

I’m sure they would do the same.
