The chaos of parenting, in pictures

The chaos of parenting, in pictures

Parenting is never as picture perfect as Facebook or magazines or TV ads would have us believe. A photographer has created a series of photos that perfectly capture its beautiful chaos.

These photos resonate on all levels.

Lifestyle photographer Danielle Guenther has created a photo series, called Best Case Scenario over a period of two years. They are a comedic look at how life really is living with kids.

The reality is not what we usually see on Facebook – or between the pages of magazines. The reality is messy. And hectic. And crazy.

As a parent I can so identify with creeping around a dark bedroom, cellphone flashlight in hand scouting around nappies and doing blanket patrol, or the side-glances in a packed restaurant as your kids try and scale the table with a mouthful of sugar sachets.

And, of course, the silence-is-golden-all-fall-down when the kids have fallen asleep.

Take a look at a few of Danielle’s photos from Best Case Scenario below:

The only alone time I have is when I am asleep and that is also touch and go...a trip to the loo is like a scene from the pied piper.

It's like trying to get the perfect family picture to post on Facebook, right?

With my troop it takes a good amount of sweet taking and wowing and a couple of handfuls of snaps to get the right one… when in actual fact a true depiction would look something like this:
