The best moments of Maritzburg College Reunion Day

Now this past weekend there were four massive schoolboy rugby matches.

Michaelhouse played against Hilton College in their traditional rivalry match.

Kloof high School and Hillcrest High school had their big ‘Derby day’ showdown while Maritzburg College had their Founders day against Westville Boys high School.

Now besides the results on who comes out on top and the bragging rights , after watching videos from those matches and hear people talk about it the one thing that stood out for me was the atmosphere and the ‘GEES’ that took place during those match.

Now, I’ve played rugby all over South Africa taking part in the Varsity shield and everywhere I go nothing compares to schoolboy rugby. The war cries, the cheering the passion shown at schoolboy rugby matches is just something you can’t compare to any other.

I went to school at Kloof High School which is a Co-ed school and although we tried doing our part in creating an atmosphere, one should really take a page out of boys schools way on how there big rugby matches are attended and the atmosphere at those matches.
