Back to work blues

Back to work blues

We asked the East Coast Breakfast team what the hardest part about being back at work was and this is what they had to say.

Going back to work after a holiday break can be tough. Even for those of us who love our work.

Imagine what it's like if you don't like your work.

Have you found it difficult to get back into the swing of things?

The team certainly have and its only day 2!

Here they are:

Darren:

How to remember my password.

Remembering where I stashed the GOOD coffee.

Gone so long, don't know if the ladies in the office have lost weight, cut their hair, or have new shoes... Because if you don't notice; ooh eh eh!!

Natarah:

I battled to type a full sentence at the beginning. My word count per minute probably sat a four! It seems the holidays turned me into a one finger typist, just like Darren Maule.

I know get up at around 03h15 now. When in holiday mode, my alarm was set for 09h30! So everything has changed, my sleep time, meal times and loo times LOL!

Gabriel:

I have to get up 45 mins early and drive 14.6 kilometers to work.
And I have completely forgotten how to use the broadcast desk #BackToWork #difficulties

Kevlar Kev:

Can’t have a bloody Mary in the morning anymore and I have to look at Darren’s dreadful blonde highlights.

If you are struggling to get back into the swing of things check out these 5 rules of surviving back to work by Darren Maule:

1. Remember holiday fatigue? It's nice to have a reason for friends and family not to just pop in... Having to work is a nice excuse not to be at home.

2. Break yourself in. 2015 is a marathon, not a sprint. Start slow, take it easy. Pack a Lunchbar and a Kit-Kat.

3. Remember all the things you didn't get to do this holiday and start planning to make it happen next time. 2 Monday's down, only 50 to go.

4. The nice thing about work is that it gives you 5 days to recover from the weekend. So long as you keep the weekend at the end of the week.

5. Always always always start your week with East Coast Breakfast! Take a longer, slower route to work so we can spend more time together. Remember, we put the 'break' in 'breakfast.'
