We begin with a shout out to the man who Betty de Villiers says is a hero in her eyes. Her grandson was parked at the traffic lights on Caversham Road in Pinetown, near the Knowles Spar, last Wednesday just after 5pm. He was approached by two men. The one went to the passenger side of his van, the accomplice held a gun to his head. In shock, Betty's grandson put his hands on the hooter and screamed for help. The driver in the white Toyota Tuscon in front of him saw what had happened and got out and started walking towards the suspects. That's when the one guy pulled the key's from Betty's grandson's car ignition and threw them on the road; grabbed his cellphone and ran in the opposite direction. The other man also fled. Betty writes: "A tragedy was averted, by a gentleman whose details are unknown, we would like to thank the kind gentleman that helped my Grandson our family really appreciates it!"

Wow, what a story and what a Good Samaritan. He moved to help someone in need regardless of the risks to himself. We'd love to know who you are - please email me at [email protected] if you're listening.

We had an alert about a White Polo ND 487-554, with at least two male occupants, who broke in to a bakkie in Crompton street, Pinetown on Friday morning at 10:37. Everything was recorded on CCTV but as far as we know the guys are still on the run.

Then Sheila emailed through a complaint about a guy in a red sports car who was making a nuisance of himself along the Durban beachfront road on Thursday from 2:00am to 3.30am. He was racing along the road at a very high speed. A disappointed Sheila says she called the police but they never arrived.

The Woodhurst sub-forum, a sub-forum of the Chatsworth Community Policing Forum, is holding its next general meeting on Wednesday at 7pm at the Woodhurst Multi-Cultural Centre. If you care about reducing crime in your area, please attend.

Finally, if you lost a driver's license in Pinetown and your name is A. Baker, a good Samaritan has it. Email us for their details.
