"Dear Big Favour,
I would like to write in to The Big Favour for my mother!
I don't know if this is to the right person, but here is our story and I hope that it will get through to you.
My mother had an extremely hard life, and from a poor family. She married my father, they had my sister then me, and then he made another woman pregnant and left us when I was one and my sister 2. My mom was shattered as it was her first love.
Many years later, she met my step dad which was a.bit older than her, but he really loved us and he even adopted us, then about 5 years later he got diabetes and he got colon cancer, they operated on him but because of the sugar etc i don't know exactly but he got worst and he died in our house. My mom saw him through until the end.
He was only in our lives for 7 short years. Then much later she met another guy, and again a few years later he had to have surgery and it was unsuccessfully and he died also. My mom was devastated but had to carry on. Then about 8 years ago my granny was diagnosed with colon cancer as well.
My mom has a sister and 2 brothers and none of them could take my gran in and look after her. So my mom quit her job because the family promised her that they will help financially, we'll that too never happened. And then my gran started getting so weak she was bed ridden and getting bed sores etc. getting worst and my mom was supporting her loving her and doctoring her, seing her dying day by day. Then she also died in my mom's arm.
Now this was too much for my mom, she got a stroke in her sleep one night and it left her deaf. She is struggling so much with her hearing aids but she doesn't have money to go see proper people to set the aids in properly. My mom's health also started deteriorating and she has chronic asthma as well, and now about a mont ago found out that she has a cancerous growth tumor thing that needs to be cut out.
Now my mom is a high risk patient under anesthesia because of her weak lungs, she almost died 2 years ago when she had an emergency tummy operation. Now she is terrified, we are so stressed out and helpless. We come from a poor family and can't even get through a month, and my mothers biggest dream is to go on a train trip, even if it means going to Johburgh then coming back. But we don't even have money to send her and her new husband on that!
I just want to make her dream come true, as she is very sickly, she only weighs 46 kg, she always gives to the needy, she never complains and I just feel so useless as a daughter that I can't even afford her a little train trip. Is there any way that u guys can make her dream come true? She must go for the operation on the 21 Aug. I suppose there is so many emails that you will never get my mail in time.!!! ;( but I really hope and pray and trusting God that His will be done in Jesus Name! God bless you guys for doing good things for all these people!
Kind Regards
Roeleen."
We managed to organise a train trip thanks to Mainline Train Services SA ( PRASA) which will take Marie and her husband Andries to Johannesburg on the exclusive Premier Classe Train.
The amazing Three Cities Royal Palm also jumped on board and arranged an overnight stay in Johannesburg for the couple.
Once again a massive thank you to Esme for her incredible Big Favour cakes!
