Alain Tardin proposes to his girlfriend
“Well, let’s just say there’s probably no-one else who will put up with my nonsense!” is why Alain Tardin says he decided to propose to his girlfriend.
Alain, who is filling in as the sports presenter on East Coast Breakfast, popped the question to Nordika Nel live on-air this morning.
Nordika, who lives in Jo’burg, thought she’d just be talking and had no clue what was about to happen.
Alain says there wasn’t a single butterfly in his tummy as Darren started to make the call to Nordika. “It was more excitement than nerves!” he says.
They've each other for 10 years. “We met at gym when I was still a swimmer. She just couldn’t resist my Speedo, hahahaa,” jokes Alain - who used to swim for South Africa and then Switzerland. He was rated among the top five swimmers in the world.
He goes on to add: “Nordika was training for her World Hip Hop Champs at the time and I was training for World Swimming champs so it was kind of ironic.”
The 30-year-old avid fisherman adds, “Nordika is all about being happy and living in the now. She’s always up for something crazy that we can put together and is full of adventure. I couldn’t ask for a better partner in crime!”
Ask Alain when’s the wedding and he responds with: “As soon as somebody gives us the next winning Powerball or Lotto numbers!”
