Zondo made a technical change
Updated | By Andre Bloem
Hollywoodbets Dolphins captain, Khaya Zondo, ended the Sunfoil Series at the top of the batting averages this season.
Zondo managed an average of 67 and has revealed what he considers the secret to his success this season.
"I made one small technical change. I kept my head a lot closer to the ground and along the ball a lot more. This helped me make better decisions as I picked up the length a lot better. I also had a strong desite to perform for my team," Zondo said.
The Dolphins have a Momentum One Day Cup date with the Lions in Durban today (Friday).
The Dolphins beat the Titans by five wickets in their opening Momentum One Day Cup match last Friday.
Zondo believes the Lions will pose a somewhat different challenge.
"The Titans and Lions have different types of players. The Lions usually use a lot of spin in the middle period, while the Titans had a lot of seamers. The Lions also have stroke players when it comes to batting and are not as hard hitting. The Lions batsmen are very skillful in how they place the ball around the field. They also rely a lot on Aaron Phangiso on the bowling side of things," Zondo added.
There has been a fair bit of rain in Durban this week and yet Zondo believes the Sahara Kingsmead pitch could still be good for batting.
"When I saw it today (Thursday) it looked like a belter. I don't think the rain will have had a massive impact, but we will have to wait and see how it performs when we play on it," Zondo concluded.
