Wayde, Caster & Luvo nominated for IAAF athlete of the year

This week marks the opening of the voting process for the 2017 World Athletes of the Year ahead of the IAAF Athletics Awards 2017 in Monaco on Friday 24 November.
Wayde van Niekerk, Caster Semenya and Luvo Manyonga all stand a chance of being crown with the prestigious accolade.

Van Niekerk successfully defended his 400m world title in London in August and added a silver medal in the 200m
His campaign also included a 300m world best of 30.81 and a national 200m record of 19.84.
Semenya broke her own national 800m record, clocking 1:55.16 to win the global title, and secured bronze in the 1 500m final in the English capital. She closed out her season with a 600m world best of 1:21.77.
Manyonga won gold in the mens long juump at the World champs and broke the African record twice earlier this year.
Fans will be able to vote online via the IAAF's social media platforms, with the voting set to close on 16 October.
