WATCH - Fast and furious cobia fishing
Cobia is a favourite fish on the menu of many an angler. The cobia is a powerful fighter and a fish known for tasting great. I have not caught a cobia and have had to settle for seeing one caught by someone else off North Pier in Durban several years ago.
The largest known cobia caught on rod and reel weighed 60kg and was captured in Australia.
The largest cobia I have seen weighed 34kg and was shot by a spear-fisherman off the Bluff in Durban.
Cobia are also known as prodigal son in South Africa.
Florida in the USA is famous for its excellent cobia fishing and that is where we go for our fishing action today.
