Cell C Sharks coach Rob du Preez says centres Lukhanyo Am and Jeremy Ward have been in excellent form this season.

Ward and Am were standout performers in the Sharks' 37-12 win over the Force on Saturday. Both players scored tries for the hosts and featured prominently in a number of plays in the game.

Am has started at outside centre all season and has put in some massive performances for the Sharks. He had formed an imposing partnership with Andre Esterhuizen, before the burly inside centre copped a 6 week ban for a dangerous tackle in their draw with the Rebels three weeks ago.

Ward has started in Esterhuizen's absence and has proved his versatility in the backline, covering a number of positions. He's considered an outside centre but has proven his worth at 12 as well.

Coach Rob du Preez admitted that the pair has played well together.

"Jeremy was good today, he and Lukanyo are forming a nice center combination together and that is what we want. I've always said it's important that the guys on the fringes and in the bigger squad get opportunities to play. The guys that have got those opportunities have done really well," the coach said on Saturday night.

"Both of them can play 12 and 13, we just think that Lukhanyo does such a good job at outside centre - I was asked this at the beginning of the season. We also have Johan Deysel there at inside centre. If we need to put Lukhanyo there we can."
