VIDEO: Tough fishing at Nonoti

Today we find the FreeSpool team fishing at Nonoti on the KwaZulu-Natal north coast.

They are targeting rays, skates and sand sharks.

I have vivid memories of battling big flatfish off North Pier in Durban when I was in my teens.

The vast majority of these tussles ended in defeat for the angler concerned.

The rocks and reefs around the pier certainly did not help the angler.

I have not fished Nonoti, but it seems this spot has more scope for letting the flatfish run when it wants to.

These fish nonetheless provide a serious workout and I suspect the FreeSpool boys may have woken up just a bit stiff the following morning.

I recall Sunfoil Dolphins cricketer, Daryn Smit, catching a ray recently. His was much smaller than the ones you will see in the footage below.
