VIDEO: Summer fishing in KZN

KwaZulu-Natal anglers generally find the summer a good time to target flatfish and some nice shad.

I have caught some lovely shad in December and can recall a few whoppers weighing up to 4kg.

It has been a while since I last fished off the beach, with my focus mainly on deep sea action these days.

I have been invited to fish in the Imperial Nissan Zululand Couta Classic next month and hope to have some awesome stories and photos to share from the competition at Mtunzini.

The heaviest couta will earn the catcher no less than R30 000.

I am hoping to get some action soon. I sure need to shake some rust ahead of my Zululand challenge.

Brendan Nolan of GoFish Magazine caught a lovely tuna off Durban just a few days ago and has suggested we jump on a jetski in the near future.

However, today we stay on the beach as we join the FreeSpool team for some KZN summer rock and surf action.

Reminder - Imperial Nissan Zululand Couta Classic at Mtunzini on 25 and 26 April 2015.

May will see Pumula on the KZN south coast hosting the annual Quattro King of the Sea fishing contest.
