VIDEO: Monster Tarpon - Part 1

Captain Wiggins has branded this species the Silver King and for very good reason.

Tarpon weigh up to about 140 kilograms and are acrobatic and powerful fighters.

We have seen Wiggins hooking them on both flies and live bait before.

Here we see him using a float off the coast of Florida in the USA.

Atlantic tarpon are also found off Angola.

Tarpon will not be on the menu when the Sportswave pair of Andre Bloem and Alain Tardin hit the waves off Pumula later this month.

Bloem and Tardin, normally teammates, will be rivals at the Quattro King of the Sea fishing contest on 24 and 25 May.

King mackerel, yellowfin tuna, Natal snoek and wahoo are likely to be the main target species in southern KZN.

However, for now let us focus on Florida and a Silver King.
