VIDEO: KZN garrick fishing action
Updated | By Staff Writer
Garrick fishing off a ski-boat means awesome fun for the angler and hard work for the skipper.
Garrick feed in and just behind the breakers and this means ski-boat anglers need to get as close to the shore as possible.
Skippers need to be very alert to avoid being dumped by a breaking wave and generally have to make do without fishing when chasing garrick.
These fish are also caught from shore and can be caught off the beach, rocks and in estuaries.
I have also seen garrick caught on live mullet in Durban harbour.
Garrick can weigh up to about 32kg and are mostly caught on live bait and lures.
KZN anglers only get to catch them in the colder months of the year.
Our footage below was shot off the KZN coast.
It features awesome garrick action and also a few garrick fishing tips.
