VIDEO: Heavy duty fishing action
There are very few fish I know of that are stronger than the goliath grouper.
These fish remind me a lot of the brindle bass we have here in KZN.
You can see a couple of them in the shark tank at uShaka Marine World.
I recall tales of big ones caught in Durban harbour on whole crab baits back in the 1970s.
My dad twice hooked what we thought were brindle bass off North Pier in Durban.
Both battles ended with both the fish and lots of nylon lost.
Our footage today features an angler who turns to heavy duty rods and reels in his attempt to land a goliath grouper.
Landing such fish from the shore is especially tough.
