VIDEO: Florida style Kingfish

Live bait and light tackle make for both success and fun as a Florida angler shows us his stuff.

He liked what he saw of the weather and headed to Fort Lauderdale Beach to wet a line.

Brighton Beach on the Bluff here in Durban is a good spot for catching kingfish of a similar size.

Live bait is also the best bet with karanteen, blacktail and mullet all very useful options.

I have also caught a kingfish on stonebream, but was maybe a tad lucky that day.

The beach in our footage below seems quite sandy, while Brighton Beach has lots of rocks.

I suspect local anglers will need heavier tackle when targeting kingfish at many of the Bluff beaches.

Kingfish have cut many a line when hooked in rocky terrain.
