VIDEO: Fishing the hard way
Updated | By Andre Bloem
There are some venues where it is relatively easy to land a big fish.
Sandy beaches tend to allow you to let the fish run and tire itself out.
A lot also depends on the species you are targeting.
Garrick are strong and clean fighters who tend not to look for the rocks.
GT are very different and are known to cut off many an angler on the bricks.
I remember losing several in the Cave Rock area out on the Bluff.
There you simply had to hit and hold.
Once over the reef, the GT was just about certain to slice your line.
Even harder is hooking a GT when standing on the rocks as opposed to the beach.
The footage below shows just how tough fishing really can be.
Rocks and a really big GT - no wonder both angler and fish end up exhausted.
