VIDEO: Fishing for flounder

Flounder can be caught both in the ocean and in estuaries.

Flounder ambush their prey.

Anglers tend to use small fish and crustaceans as bait for flounder.

There are concerns about the population levels of certain flounder species.

It is believed some levels could be as low as 10% of those found in pre-industrial times.

Captain Blair Wiggins generally tends to release most fish caught on his show.

However, in the footage below he does keep a few for dinner.

We have received reports of very good shad fishing on the KZN south coast over the past week.

Remember that size and bag limits apply to shad.
