VIDEO: Extreme fishing action
Updated | By Staff Writer
I remember fishing for kingfish with live bait on the Bluff and occasionally hooking specimens we simply could not handle.
They would hit the reef and that would be that.
We mostly landed blacktip and big-eye kingfish, but also caught the occasional GT.
I suspect most of our bust-ups were larger GT feeding on the karanteen, blacktail or mullet which we mostly used as live bait.
Hooking even smaller kingfish while standings on the rocks or on the Brighton Beach tidal pool proved quite a challenge. I recall several anglers losing their balance in the process and sustaining a nasty cut or two.
Today we focus on an angler hooking a GT off the bricks on the edge of what looks like a significant drop-off.
He almost ends up swimming in doing so.
